Hospitality an ‘urgent priority’ for London

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has described getting hospitality venues and businesses in the capital back up and running as “an urgent priority,” adding that if “more people aren’t confident the virus is under control, our wonderful ecosystem of shops, bars, cafes and cultural venues is at risk of a damaging slump that could take years to recover from.” Industry body UK Hospitality has warned that existing support for city-centre businesses is “insufficient and inadequate.” Mr Khan has said he hopes to see more office workers returning from September, noting that a “huge amount of work is being done by businesses to make their offices safe, whether around office layouts, one-way systems, or enhanced cleaning and hygiene.”
