Research by the Centre for Retail Economics and discount website Voucher Codes reveals that 42m consumers will spend £5.2bn this weekend, with Saturday expected to be the biggest shopping day of the month, with footfall forecast to rise 12% from last year. Customers are predicted to spend £1.5bn on what has been dubbed "Frenzied Friday", a 19% increase compared to last year, with around £1.1bn spent in stores and £450m online.
