A total of 835,000 new businesses were launched in 2020, a figure 40% higher than the previous year. The largest number of new registrations with Companies House were from people selling goods from their homes. A total of 39,700 new firms selling via mail order or the internet were set up last year. Next came newly set-up management consultancy activities.
