Retailers make Budget call for rates to be cut

Retailers have called on Rishi Sunak to put together a £35bn support package in the Budget to protect 500,000 jobs and save shops and pubs from oblivion. The Independent Business Network also wants the Chancellor to include business rates being slashed, a freeze on town centre parking charges, and a 5% VAT cut for in-store purchases. Other proposals include an extension for reduced VAT rates for pubs and restaurants, a new Eat Out to Help Out promotion, and a halving of alcohol taxes.
